THE first ever vegan fair to be held in Devizes was declared a huge success by organisers as hundreds of people turned out to browse 50 stalls, watch cookery demonstrations and meet the people behind BAFTA winning film 73 Cows.
Former beef farmers turned actors Jay and Katja Wilde opened the event in the Corn Exchange on Sunday and took part in a question and answer session.
The couple were famed for giving their herd of cows to an animal sanctuary as they could no longer bare taking their cows to market to be slaughtered. Their story was turned into a film by Alex Lockwood and it won a BAFTA.
Devizes Vegan Fair organiser Jo Harrington said: "We love hosting these events. Devizes has been welcoming and extremely supportive as a community. The town is very progressive with a growing number of vegan options at local restaurants and shops."
Local traders Belle Creative Cork Natures Gifts, The Little Bakehouse, Olives n Stuff and The Healthy Life Company were among those with stalls.
