A 27-year-old soldier has been arrested on suspicion of murdering an Army colleagues.
Police were called to the married quarters at Zouch Avenue, Tidworth, this morning after reports of a sudden death.
Officers found the body of the 24-year-old man at the base on the Wiltshire/Hampshire border.
An Army spokeswoman would not disclose the dead man's regiment.
A Ministry of Defence spokesman said it was aware of the arrest of a soldier by Wiltshire Police over the death.
"Jurisdiction for this investigation lies with Wiltshire Constabulary, but Royal Military Police are assisting where required," he said.
The 27-year-old is being held in custody at Salisbury police station.
The coroner has been informed and police and the military authorities are investigating the incident. Police are appealing for witnesses.
