A TERRIFIC performance from all-rounder Bruce Martin steered Swindon to a tense two-wicket win over rivals Lydney on Saturday.
Martin (4-26) helped restrict the visitors to 202 all out, before sharing a century opening stand with skipper Darren Beasant to boost Swindon's reply.
But when Beasant (29) and Martin (73) departed, the wheels came off for Swindon as Lydney piled on the pressure.
Wickets tumbled in the dying overs, but Swindon sneaked home off the penultimate ball.
Wicket keeper Andy Staff (14no) made himself the hero of the day by dispatching a full toss 15 yards over the mid wicket boundary to tie the game, and then scoring the winning run off the penultimate ball.
Wins for league leaders Biddestone and Warminster means Swindon, who travel to Marshfield on Saturday, remain third in the table with just four matches remaining.
