AFTER another defeat, Devizes travel to bottom of the table Nationwide House on Saturday knowing they have to win.
Mark Banham's struggling side sit just one place above their opponents, and the Wiltshire League relegation zone, after a hugely disappointing season.
"It is a must-win game," said Banham. "We shouldn't be where we are but you have to try beat every side, no matter who they are.
"What we have to do is post a total and get them out.
"It is fairly obvious the chance of finishing in the top half has gone and we now have to concentrate on avoiding relegation."
On Saturday, the club's plight worsened at home to Wootton Bassett despite Sri Lankan all rounder Nipuna Rathnayake's top score of 66.
Former captain Richard Wright hit 32 and Pat Legge 30 but Banham admitted they couldn't have defended the low total.
"It was never going to be enough - Richard and Nipuna put on a good stand and really steadied the ship but we should have gone on to 240," he said.
"We bowled well but they never had to take any risks, which meant we could not force them into any."
Rathnayake took 4-28, Owen Burgess 2-47 and Banham claimed a run out in reply, but top of the table Bassett were too strong.
Elsewhere, Nationwide House travelled to Hinton Charterhouse in a bottom-of-the-table clash in the Wiltshire Division.
Hinton, batting first, struggled all innings against some excellent bowling from Morris (2-24) and Thwaites (3-19) and were all out for 131 in the 44th over.
Nationwide's Chattell hit 25 runs in the second over and they looked to be on the road to a victory at 40-0 but a collapse started at the fall of Chattell.
Skipper Mark Flay made an excellent 45 on his return to the side, and was the last man to fall as they lost by nine runs.
