FURIOUS Corsham captain Michael Coles expects to be reprimanded by the league after he accused an umpire of being "incompetent."
The Premier One underachievers were reduced to 15-3 on Saturday after Coles was given out caught behind, but he insisted the ball brushed his shirt instead of the bat.
"We had a few choice words afterwards and an incompetent official could have cost us the game," he said.
"Teams might say we are being bitter but when the opposition come up and apologies for two of their wickets you have got every right to say something about it.
"I would be surprised if nothing happened and I expect the league will contact me."
Coles' outburst is unlikely to help his team, who sit a lowly fourth from bottom after their championship challenge failed to materialise.
Corsham put Taunton St Andrews into bat on a wet wicket at Station Road and Coles expected his side to reach their total.
"I was very, very happy keeping them down to 196 and very confident we could chase them down," he said.
Alex Senneck (4-45) and Jonathan Parker (3-19) helped reduce the fourth placed visitors to 77-3 before they rallied despite Jason Searle claiming 2-34, and Thomas Hankins taking 1-38.
Corsham got off to a bad start in reply and were struggling at 33-4 before Adam Kelly (28) and Pete Dennett (41) put a slight gloss on the innings until they were both out for just one run, reducing the hosts to 95-4 and 96-5.
Alex Senneck hit 19 as rain ended the game seven overs before the end.
"It is frustrating because if the rain hadn't come we would have got a losing draw, so instead of 14 or 15 points we have ended up with six," said Coles.
Cheltenham, who Corsham claimed a winning draw over in June, visit Station Road on Saturday with the captain calling on his troops to regroup and save their season.
"The league is so tight if Cheltenham come to us and get something it will put us under a lot of pressure," he said.
"We need our big name players to stand up and be counted but we also need to work for each other.
"I think we need to still target the top three but we have gone too far for a push for the championship."
