LAST week, whilst out in the Derriads part of my Chippenham council division undertaking one of my regular litter picks, I was delighted to see the installation of new drop kerbs following my request to Wiltshire Council and with the support of the town council.
This highlights that, in spite of constant budget pressures, improvements to our local community are still possible and achievable. The only constant disappointment is the amount of funding which Wiltshire Council, together with and other town and parish councils around the county, has to spend on picking up litter dropped on our streets and community spaces.
I am sure that we would all rather see this money dedicated to highway and streetscene improvements rather than picking up unnecessary litter.
