ART students at Pewsey Vale School have been given a digital camera by an architectures to capture their creative projects in the classroom.
The £200 donation to fund the camera will allow children to work on personal and educational projects and be used during workshops with people in the community.
Fowler Architecture supported the art department being run by Nina Slater, who joined the school as head of art in Easter.
She said: “The camera will be used as soon as the students can get their hands on it, it is an essential edition to our art department.
“There are some students who have strong maths, science and art skills and I could see them going on to become architects.
“We have a dark room which I would like to get running. We need the chemicals now and that is our next project.
“I would also like to do evening art workshops, parents have already asked when they can get involved and it’s something I want to do to incorporate the community.”
Mike Fowler, of Fowler Architecture added: “As a Pewsey based business, we feel it is important to forge close links with our local school and inspire future generations to become more artistic.
“When we became aware that the school art department needed a camera but didn’t have the funding, we decided to step in and donate one.
“Maybe the camera will be the catalyst to create a new cohort of architects and designers.”
Mrs Slater now has her sights set on re-opening a dark room at the school to further boost pupil's photography skills.
