MCDONALD'S drive-thru staff in Chippenham got the surprise of their life when they opened their window to find the former England football captain David Beckham staring back at them.
The footballer, who was accompanied by his son Brooklyn and an entourage in black Land Rovers, made the pit stop in the town on Friday afternoon during their journey to Glastonbury much to the delight of those waiting for their food.
Shift manager Phillip Moulton, who served David through the window, was left stunned by the encounter but quickly took to social media to share his news with his friends.
"I am literally star struck! David Beckham on the drive-thru," he posted on social media with a selfie shortly after.
The selfie, which has now gone viral, prompted a flurry of activity online with the shift manager revealing that the former international ordered a Big Mac meal with two cheeseburgers.
Crew trainer David Steacy, who also got a selfie with the star, told the Gazette this week: "I came round the side and saw two black Land Rovers sat in the car park so I went over and asked David if I could have a photo.
"He asked me where his food was and I told him that my colleague was preparing it and then we had a photo. He seemed annoyed though, if I'm honest."
The football superstar was on his way to a new development in Pilton, near Glastonbury, where he helped Michael Eavis unveil a set of new affordable homes called Maggie's Farm. He then helped plant a tree outside the development before heading to the festival with his son Brooklyn.
Speaking to the Telegraph outside the launch, the former United player said: "Believe it or not, I'm 42-years old and it is my first festival and first time here.
"I'm excited and slightly nervous because I don't know what to expect apart from the great acts and people having fun."
