A SUPERB hit of 87 by Tom Richards inspired Calne to a six-run victory over Devizes in the U13 League Division Two clash on Sunday.

Batting first, Calne posted 182 thanks to the in-form Richards and Joe Butler (34).

Devizes bowler George Dunford (6-2-19-3) did his best to stem the flow of runs.

In reply, Devizes set about chasing the target with good knocks from Danny Kidd (43) and George Dunford (38).

But the chase fell short, with Calne's Olly Coulson (7-1-15-5) and Chris Lower (4-0-15-2) getting the upper hand.

Elsewhere in the division, Goatacre/Spye Park were beaten by Shrivenham by four wickets.

Brad Dawson top scored with 24 in the combined team's total of 120-7 against the bowling of Ben Eyre (7-1-28-2) and Max Freeman (6-0-14-2).

In reply, Tom Swann (27), Elliott Day (36) and Scott Winskill (25no) guided Shrivenham to victory for the loss of six wickets.

Malmesbury sealed the maximum 24 points with an impressive 200-run victory over Purton, who were bowled out for just 29 thanks to Thomas (3-0-13-4) and Charman (1-0-6-3).

Unbeaten stands from Jones (139) and Royle (39) had seen Malmesbury power to 229-1 after batting first.

In Division One of the U13 League, star batsman Guy Brothwood again inspired Chippenham to victory.

They defeated Wootton Bassett by eight wickets thanks largely to his unbeaten 81. Batting first, Bassett posted 152-9 after a superb 90 from Greg Davies. Andrew Edwards (7-1-24-3) and Brothwood (7-2-16-3) performed well with the ball.

Chippenham raced to the total, amassing 156-2, with Brothwood and Sam Wild (26) in form.

Meanwhile, South Wilts smashed Trowbridge by 128 runs thanks to batsmen Tom Cowley (94), Jack Mynott (54) and Max Betteridge (30) who set a target of 211-4.

Swindon won by four wickets against Biddestone, who were bowled out for 91 by the outstanding Richards (4-1-7-2), Brown (5.3-0-24-3), Miles (5-0-14-2) and Ellis (4-1-15-2).

Tom Merriman (25) and Chris Baker (18) top scored for Biddestone.

In reply, Swindon chased down the total to reach 95 for the loss of six wickets against the bowling of Merriman (7-2-20-1), Steven Hayes (6-0-16-2) and Chris Baker (7-1-15-0).

Marshfield were also victorious, defeating Cannings by 62 runs after Hugh Tayler (35) and Tim Rouse (33) had helped post 166-6. Toby Baker (2-14) was the Cannings top bowler, while an injury to Tom Alsop (29no) hampered their reply.

Mathew Lever (23no) also batted well but the side were all out on 104 against bowlers Matt Linehan (5-13), Tim Rouse (2-6) and Kallan George (2-26).

In the U11 North Division, Biddestone defeated Goatacre/Spye Park by six wickets. Rob Preece (2-0-9-2) and Alex Clark (2-0-5-2) restricted the combined team to 44-7, while Alex Clark (27no) sealed the win on 45-4.
