A GIANT plant sale this weekend will help grow the Gazette's 200 appeal for Julia's House.
West Kington Nurseries, which is one of the largest wholesale plant growers in the region, will hold its sale on both Saturday and Sunday and give proceeds from its catalogue sales to the charity which will open a new children's hospice in Devizes next year.
The annual event usually attracts thousands of people and last year raised more than £2,500 for Wiltshire Air Ambulance, Help for Heroes, the Orchard Vale Trust and West Kington Church.
Owner Mark Jackson said: "We always look forward to welcoming enthusiastic gardeners to our events and this year are delighted to be supporting Julia’s House as our main beneficiary - the Gazette and Herald’s chosen charity.
"This is probably the largest plant sale in the south west and is a chance to see a working wholesale nursery. A word of advice to anyone planning a visit, since this is a wholesale growing business, there are an enormous number of varieties available and the sheer volume of plants and the size of the site can be intoxicating for any keen gardener. It is wise to allow plenty of time and plenty of boot space for your visit."
There will be expert advice on hand – including The Garden Goddess, local garden designer and landscaper, who will be hosting a special troubleshooting stand to answer any questions.Homemade cakes will be on sale in aid of West Kington Church.
Doors open at 9am on Saturday and 10am on Sunday. The nursery is in the village of West Kington, near Chippenham.
