A COMMUNITY choir which hit all the right notes when it performed in Chippenham has raised more than £1,000 for Julia's House.
The All Sorts Community Choir held a concert at the Neeld Hall to raise money for the charity which expects to open a new children's hospice in Devizes next year.
Joining the Chippenham choir was internationally acclaimed guitar quartet VIDA.
Plans are now underway for choir and VIDA to go into a recording studio in April to record a new album with all proceeds going to Julia’s House.
Roger Smith from the All Sorts Community Choir said: “We are delighted to support this wonderful local charity and we are really looking forward to getting into the studio with VIDA to record the album with all the proceeds being donated to Julia’s House.”
Ged Montgomery from Julia’s House said: "It is really exciting that the choir and VIDA have decided to record a CD for us – we may even have that Christmas No.1."
The Gazette's 200 appeal is aiming to raise £100,000 to pay for carers to help families in Wiltshire and now the charity has started a recruitment campaign.
Julia’s House needs staff for its Team Nurses, Bank Nurses and Carers to help expand its new Wiltshire children’s hospice service.
Jess Baker, who has worked as a Carer for Julia’s House for three years, said: “When I first saw the job advertised I wasn’t sure it would be for me. But it is amazing and you really feel like you are making a difference.
“It is a very positive experience and I really love my job. It is completely different to how I thought it might be and I am so glad I applied.”
