More than 100 leather clad bikers and their families turned out to the funeral of motorcycle fanatic Mick Woodhams in Swindon today.

Mr Woodhams, of Marlowe Avenue, Swindon, died of an aneurysm in the early hours of March 21 after a night of drinking with his son and a friend in Portugal.

His coffin was driven to St Mary's Church in Rodbourne Cheney on a tricycle trailer topped with helmet - a tribute to his fascination with motorcycles.

More than 250 people came to pay tribute to Mr Woodhams, otherwise known as Mickey, with some travelling from as far as South Africa to pay their respects.

Best friend Richard Stevens said: "Steve McQueen, Marlon Brando and Evel Knievel were all legends and so was Mick, if a film was to be made about his life it would be called Carry On Rocking and Rolling or Carry On Wheeling and Dealing."

Mr Stevens met Mr Woodhams in 1986 and the pair travelled the world together.

The church filled with laughter as Mr Stevens described an incident in Portugal where he was kicked out of the friend's hotel room because he was grinding his teeth.

He said: "Mick told me I had to sleep outside - while I was sleeping Mick put a trail of stolen cheese around me as a practical joke And I woke up at 2am surrounded by wild pigs.

"Mick was sat in the car watching me laughing."

Mr Woodhams sister Margaret then paid special tribute to her brother, singing the first line of The Animals' House of The Rising Sun before the tune was played throughout the church.

She said: "This is for Mick."
