Wiltshire Council workers have been inspecting the Tour of Britain route through the county to ensure no potholes derail the riders.
Road supremo and deputy leader John Thomson said he was told the county’s roads are ready for the race.
But yesterday there were still potholes in Easton Royal.
A council spokesman said on Monday: “Our local highways engineers have inspected the route and some limited works were carried out on areas where it was felt there was the possibility that the surface may deteriorate prior to the start of the race.
“An initial examination of the Wiltshire route by the Tour of Britain organisers found no issues with the road surface. Some limited works were carried out after our own highways engineers identified areas where there was a chance that the surface may deteriorate before the race.
“Last week the tour organisers again confirmed their satisfaction with the road conditions along the route.”
But Easton Royal parish councillor Mark De Pass said the pot holes along the Burbage to Pewsey Road could be a problem for cyclists.
He said: “There are still quite a lot of potholes on that stretch of road and there really should be something done about it.
“It’s something that comes up all the time but the problem is there’s only a certain amount of money and Wiltshire Council can only get so far with repairs before the money runs out.
“We persistently bring it up with our unitary councillor, Jerry Kunkler, and he takes it back to Wiltshire Council but the message that we keep getting back is that there is not enough money. The cyclists are going to have to keep an eye out.”
Wiltshire Council refused to comment on the Easton Royal potholes.
