One of the most thrilling sections of the race on the Wiltshire patch will be in Devizes.
A stage sprint is due to take place in Bath Road as the cyclists race into the town at around 11.05am. Cyclists will reach speeds of up to 60mph as they race between The Black Horse and the finish line near Wadworth Brewery,.
Among the specialists of the sprint sections is British rider Mark Cavendish who will be supported by his Omega Pharma Quick Step professional team.
Also hoping to do well will be last year’s Tour of Britain winner Bradley Wiggins.
Wadworth is making the most of its prime position on the course and will have its shire horse on display.
A special beer - Wadworth Wheeler - has been brewed for the occasion.
A gazebo will be put up in the car park in front of the brewery visitor centre, and from 10am to 2pm there will be soft drinks, snacks and limited edition cycling jerseys for sale.
The Crown pub in New Park Street will be serving ‘On Your Bike’ breakfast rolls.
Visitor Centre manager Michelle Field said: “We at the brewery will be out in force to support the race and we hope that lots of people will come and join us to enjoy a pint of Wadworth Wheeler and cheer the cyclists on their way.”
Children from a number of schools in the town will be lining the route with banners and Union Jacks.
Those taking part include St Joseph's Nursery, Heathcote House Nursery, Tailor-made Childcare, Devizes School, Downland School, Southbroom St James Academy, Wansdyke School and Southbroom Infants' School.
Devizes Town Council and Devizes Area Board have joined forces to encourage schools and businesses to take part and the town will be decorated with a number of bikes sprayed gold which have been supplied by Hills Waste.
Area Board community area manager Richard Rogers said: “We should have about 15 of the gold bikes in Devizes and others will be in other towns on the route.
“The sprint section in Devizes will be exciting but we hope most people will gather on The Green where they will get a good view.”
Hills will holding a cycle safe campaign on The Green from 10am to 2pm to raise awareness of the dangers associated with cycling near lorries.
Peter Andrew, group director Hills Quarry Products, said: “We encourage everyone to come and see the changes we have made to our vehicles to improve drivers’ awareness of cyclists and help cyclists be more aware of potentially dangerous zones around lorries.
"Our drivers will be on hand to talk about the training they have received and their commitment to the campaign.”
