Police are appealing for information after mementos were stolen and damaged at Devizes Cemetery in Rotherstone.
Two concrete books, one saying ‘To a special mum’ with a verse, and one saying ‘To a special friend’ with a verse were stolen and a stone angel was smashed and left at the grave.
The mementos were put there by Yvonne Barker of Melbourne Place, Devizes, and were stolen and damaged between August 1 and 20.
She said: “It’s annoying. For somebody to pinch something off a grave is the lowest of the low. I can replace the items but are they going to go missing again?”
Sgt Joanne Spencer, of Devizes Police, said: “This is a really nasty, cruel offence. There has been no thought to the impact this would have on the family and friends who visit the grave.”
This is the third incident of theft or damage at the cemetery reported to Devizes Police since the beginning of the year.
Sgt Spencer suspected that the items had been stolen for resale but said the financial return on them would be minimal.
Anyone with information about the thefts should call Devizes Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101.
