Corsham Civic Society has some exciting events lined up in support of the national Heritage Open Days programme.

Across the country, historic buildings will be opening their doors to offer visitors a rare free glimpse at what is inside. The annual scheme, organised by English Heritage and the National Trust, runs between September 11 and 14.

Corsham Civic Society chairman Michael Rumsey said: “We have regularly taken part in the open days programme and the events are always very popular. We are pleased this year to add a few new attractions such as the Bath Stone Quarry Museum and the Gardiner Houlgate Auction House.

“While, Dr Negley Harte’s tours are always very good and draw a lot of people.”

There will be two tours of the Bath Stone Quarry Museum, in Potley Lane, at 10am-2pm on September 11. A tour of the Gardiner Houlgate Auction House, Leafield Way, at 2pm on September 12.

Dr Harte will hold a guided history talk in Corsham at 2pm on September 12 with a talk called Corsham in the 20th Century at the Town Hall at 7.30pm the same day.

A final history talk by Dr Harte will be held at 2pm on September 13. The Pound will be hosting an art exhibition called Corsham in Colour between September 11 and 13.

Tickets are available from Corsham Area Information Centre until September 10.
