The Box Rocks music festival comes of age this bank holiday weekend when it celebrates its 21st anniversary.
The Queen’s Head pub will be hosting a packed programme of live bands from 1pm-10pm on Monday. Funds raised from the event will go towards the Forever Friends Appeal run by the Royal United Hospital in Bath.
The festival has supported the appeal for 12 years and raised £23,000 in that time. The hospital’s latest project is a £8.5m cancer centre.
Event organiser Dean Creighton said: “It’s our 21st birthday, that means we need to celebrate. There are over 30 of us in the Box Rocks crew who are dedicated to making this year the biggest and best yet.
“We are so proud to support the Forever Friends Appeal, they are a fantastic charity who help so many people we know. Not only do we get to raise much-needed funds towards their projects, we also have fun doing it.”
Bands playing include The Bohemian Embassy and The Phoenix Club. For those who cannot attend, the event’s website will be running a livestream.
The appeal’s community fundraiser Zoe Tainton said: “This is a gig not to be missed. It is busy every year and the atmosphere is brilliant.
“Everyone relaxes with a drink, enjoying the music in the garden, with some great views and great company. There is a huge shelter as well, for if it rains. We are very proud to say that the Queen’s Head was one of our community partners with our last project, The Dyson Centre for neonatal care for premature babies.
“We are delighted they are continuing to support the cancer care campaign. So far, they have raised over £8,300 the new centre, helping all those around us affected by cancer.”
