Year 11 pupils at Sheldon School in Chippenham achieved 85 per cent A* to C grades; 69 per cent A*-C including English and maths.
Headteacher Neil Spurdell said: “An enormous amount of hard work has gone in to arrive at these results and it’s a fitting tribute for the students’ efforts and the commitment of their teachers.
“We clearly have some stunning results from our top-end students, but we are very pleased with the results of all of the Year 11s.
“Ninety-nine per cent achieved five A*-G with English and maths and I was amazed to see that 58 per cent of the 279 students achieved at least one A grade.”
He said an impressive quarter of all students scored at least five A*/A grades including English and maths, with 26 students achieving 10 or more A*/A grades.
