Freemasons from Wiltshire Summer Lodge have raised money for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
A social event was held recently where John Pavitt, former coxswain of the Appledore lifeboat station in Devon, gave a talk on what it is like to be a lifeboat man.
He recounted stories of encountering 50 and 60-feet high waves as the lifeboat volunteers went about the dangerous business of rescuing those in distress.
A raffle was held and the £406 raised was presented to the Appledore lifeboat station.
