Devizes Canoe Club’s application to create a base at Lower Wharf in the town is being recommended for approval.
The application has resulted in 43 letters of objection, a petition signed by 78 people and 36 letters of support. Residents living next to Lower Wharf fear the access road to the site is not wide enough and access into Northgate Street is unsafe.
But Wiltshire Council highway officers say the access road is wide enough for two cars to pass each other and visibility to Northgate Street is acceptable.
Wiltshire Council’s Eastern area planning committee will discuss it on Thursday at the Corn Exchange, Devizes, at 6pm.
