VOLUNTEERS at the National Trust Avebury had a picnic in the manor grounds yesterday as a thank you for all their hard work.
During the picnic a star was unveiled on the Manor lawn, which depicts the different ways the team has spent a total of 25,000 hours contributing to the running of the Avebury site.
Volunteers are involved in every aspect of the busy Wiltshire attraction, including welcoming visitors or giving guided tours of the stone circle.
Eleanor Eaton, visitor services manager for National Trust Wiltshire Landscape, said; “Every hour of time helps us do more to look after this special place. We desperately need more help, particularly guides on a Friday or Saturday.”
