I entirely agree with Robert Macmillan’s comment (letter to the editor, August 7) on the unsightly metal-clad ‘carbuncle’ which has appeared on top of the imposing Keep of the former Wiltshire Regimental Depot in Devizes.
If, heaven forbid, it is intended to be a permanent structure I should be interested to know its purpose and also the authority which gave planning permission for it to be deposited on that fine Victorian edifice.
