At the end of August 2013 I set up my 4Joy Appeal with the aim of raising £20,000 to name 4GuideDogPups4Joy and I believed it would take me at least a year to attain this target.
We are now coming up to our first anniversary of the appeal and it gives me great pleasure to share with you that we have now reached a staggering £40,000!
This amount could not have been reached without the help and support of the general public who have embraced the appeal and have done many different things 4Joy – ran4Joy, swam4Joy, washedcars4Joy, sang4Joy or just donated4Joy.
The £40,000 has allowed me to name 6GuideDogPups4Joy and enabled me to fund the second year of training for puppy Joy and we are about to name our seventh puppy.
The puppies we have named so far are Joy, Fletcher, Elsie, Winnie, Craven and Charity. All of them with the exception of Craven(who hasn’t been placed with a puppy walker yet) are being puppy walked in the Swindon area.
I am overwhelmed by the amount of people who have wanted to help not only me and Joy but Guide Dogs too. Thank you all once again.
Alan Fletcher, Chair, Swindon Guide Dogs for the Blind.
