I am writing to express my disgust of the approval for 230 homes to be built deep into greenbelt land on the edge of Marlborough Downs. This land, in my opinion, should never be built on with so many homes, and just goes to show that Wiltshire Council’s strategic planning committee have little regard for the countryside.
With regard to the developers donating money for the upkeep of the KA Canal towpath, will this now become another cycle motorway like the towpath below Devizes? I hope not, as this will ruin the tranquillity and beauty of the canal in the Horton area. OK, it’s a bit muddy, put your wellies on – remember, you are in the country after all.
Consider also the road traffic delays, extra vehicles on an already saturated roadway and further stretched resources that is synonymous with these huge housing estates. I therefore urge this committee to reconsider what they are doing and U-turn against this mindless decision.
S Johnson, Devizes.
