Motorists cruised round the countryside of Wiltshire in their classic cars and raised money for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

The classic car run, on Sunday, was organised by Devizes and District Motor Club and a total of 46 cars took part, the most entrants the club has had.

While some drivers were members of the club, a good number were non-members and came from all over the country.

The drivers went on a 140 mile route starting and finishing at the Oliver Cromwell pub in Bromham, through Lacock, Wraxall, Sherston, Kemble, Minety, Bushton, Hackpen Hill, Marlborough and Avebury.

Cars taking part included Porsches, Morgans, Morris Minor, MGs.

Some of the more unusual cars included a 1954 Vauxhall Wyvern, a Lancia Fulvia and a 1994 Tatra East European car that looks like a limo.

Club spokesman John Rogers said: “We had people from Leicestershire and Devon as well as from Wiltshire.

"Wiltshire is a county you travel through if you are going to the seaside so a lot of people hadn’t seen the roads, even some of the locals, and they were delighted at the scenery.

"It was a gentle run, not a race and the cars went off in intervals. In total it took five to six hours.”
