Electrician Carl Walker fears for the foundations of his house in Royal Wootton Bassett after a leak in a water pipe flooded his garden.
Since May this year, water has been leaking out of a pipe crossing a travellers’ site to serve an industrial unit behind Glenville Nurseries, flooding Mr Walker’s neighbouring property in Marlborough Road.
But despite numerous calls, letters and messages to Thames Water, nothing has yet been done.
The 37-year-old said: “The water has just flooded my property. There is two inches of water on the top of my garden, there are pond skaters and other wildlife in the water on my drive and the water is lifting the patio away.
“It’s seeping into the foundations of my house, and I have no idea the extent of the damage it is doing. Thames Water have come out a few times but they haven’t done anything about it.”
As well as posing a risk to his property, the water has impacted the quality of life for the rest of Mr Walker’s family, especially his three-year-old daughter.
The water pipe serves a company called Combined Scaffolding and over the past few months Mr Walker has made an arrangement with it to lessen the damage to his home.
He said: “When it first started earlier this year I went over and just switched it off, but then they complained they had no water. So now I switch it off at night and then on again in the morning, and it leaks all through the day.”
The leak is on private land used as a mobile site for travellers, and in order for Thames Water to access it needs to get permission from the site owner, or a warrant and police escort.
A spokesman from Thames Water said: “This leak is on a private supply pipe and, although not our direct responsibility, we will get straight in and fix for free as soon as we are allowed.”
