There was fun and information for all the family in Hillworth Park  when a services show was organised to tell the community about what was on offer.

Youngsters had the chance to sit in a police car, clamber over a fire engine and take on an assault course laid out by Army recruitment officers.

The idea for the first Devizes Services Day came from PCSO Luke Woodward who wanted to bring emergency services, voluntary organisations, youth groups and council bodies together in one place.

He said: “I thought it would be a good idea for people to be able to find out a bit more about what services are available in the town.

“We were particularly busy in the morning with people of all ages. The children had great fun trying on police equipment and using the inflatable assault course.

“Some of the charities enlisted some new volunteers.”

PCSO Woodward is to become a PC in September so will not be available to organise the event next year but he is hopeful that it may become a regular event.

He said: “If the demand is there it is possible it will happen again next year.”
