CARTER Lady Teresa It is with great sadness that the death of Teresa Carter, Lady Carter of Devizes, is announced. Teresa died at her own home in Potterne, Wiltshire, on 6th September at the age of 89, following a long and difficult illness. In her local community she was known as a philanthropist, magistrate, school and prison governor: and to many more as a former primary and special needs teacher. Nationally, she will be remembered as a life long supporter of the Labour Party. Until his death in 2006 her husband Denis, Lord Carter was a minister and Privy Counsellor in Tony Blair's government. Lord and Lady Carter had tragically lost both their children, Andrew in 1982 and Kate in 2004. Teresa's profound and deep Roman Catholic Faith left her in no doubt that they are now reunited. Her myriad of friends and acquaintances have lost a true friend, whose warmth and generosity will remain with us for ever. Because of Covid restrictions her funeral will be sadly restricted but a memorial service will be held as early in 2021 as is possible.

May the love of God and the fellowship of the Saints be with all the Carters in heaven as they so richly deserve.
