The Guild of Wiltshire Artists celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.
It was started in 1985 by John Soar, Frederick Cammeron-Street and James Trew.
The guild uses as its logo the Great Bustard of Wiltshire. The guild started with 12 members and now has 40 but still functions as a guild and not purely as an exhibiting vehicle for members.
The group meets monthly to learn and share knowledge. Every year it holds an internal competition for the best painting.
This year’s theme was Wiltshire in all its aspects. The winner with a watercolour landscape was Ernie Evans.
The anniversary exhibition will be at St Peter’s Church, Marlborough from August 26 to September 4. It will be open daily from 10am to 5pm and Sunday from 11am to 4pm. Entry is free.
