A powerful production of Amanda Whittington’s drama enthralled the first night audience at the theatre behind the Red Lion on Monday. The accomplished cast, aged from 12 to 16, benefits from professional direction. Sarah Ryan, Kerrie Scarff, Gemma Mowatt, Zoe Mann and Grace Elliott are all excellent, and the costume is spot-on.
A simple, two-tier set – a matron’s office and dormitory in a C of E home for young unmarried mothers in the early 1960s, is the scene of exuberance and anguish as they contemplate their plight. See this if you can!
