Corsham High Street was transported back in time as it became the set of a new Disney+ show.
Filming for Disney’s adaptation of Jilly Cooper’s iconic 1980s novel Rivals took place on Corsham High Street from 8am to 7pm on Monday, July 10.
The blockbuster eight-part series boasts a star-studded cast including David Tennant, Danny Dyer, Emily Atack and Poldark’s Aidan Turner.
While none of these household names were spotted in Corsham, parts of the street were transformed for several scene-setting shots.
This included the presence of old-fashioned cars, a milk float, actors styled in the fashions of the 1980s, and adaptations to the exterior of some properties.
Some minor disruption to traffic came as a result of the day of filming, with a stop and go system in place for Station Road and Post Office Lane.
A small number of parking spaces were also out of action to accommodate the shoot.
Ahead of filming, a spokesperson for Corsham Town Council said: “The town council, and Wiltshire Council, have been working with Happy Prince, the ITV Company producing the series, to help make Monday’s filming go as well as possible, with the minimum disruption, and we are looking forward to seeing Corsham on screen again.”
