Let's face it. Spalshing the cash for a luxury weekend with hot and cold running waiters could be just the tonic for wafting away those post lockdown blues.
And as staycations are the new black, here is a list of fabulously luxurious, and really rather expensive hotels in Wiltshire.
1: MALMESBURY: Whatley Manor Hotel and Spa
£629 per night to stay in this grand old manor house hotel with elegant decor and contemporary art, plus fine dining and a cinema.
Whatley Manor stands in twelve acres of rolling countryside and manicured lawns in the hamlet of Easton Grey on the edge of Malmesbury.
Originally named Twatley Manor; an abbreviation of “To the wet lea”, Whatley Manor was originally a farmhouse on a farm estate called Twatley Farm which was rebuilt in the 18th century.
2: CHIPPENHAM: Lucknam Park Hotel and Spa
£687 per night and the blurb says they have been practising social distancing for 300 years! The scene is set from the moment you turn into the driveway. The magnificent mile long lime and beech avenue stands like a guard of honour guiding guests to the graciously restored Palladian mansion. It also boasts a fabuluously expensive but superb Michelin Star dining at Restaurant Hywel Jones. There is a course veggie taster menu at £87 amongst other delights.
3: CHIPPENHAM: The Manor House
£315 per night to stay in an upscale lodging in a 14th-century country manor, plus refined dining and an 18-hole golf course. Michelin starred dining awaits in Bybrook restaurant, along with delicious afternoon teas in the drawing room and casual dining in the lounge spaces and The Castle Inn pub, just a short stroll, in the heart of the village.
4: MELKSHAM: Beechfield House
£156 a night here for this hidden treasure near Melksham. It has an outdoor heated pool, and is dog and children freindly too.
This grade II listed property was built in an Italianate square house style with a three windowed service wing to the rear and a three-storey symmetrical three windowed front. The House was subsequently bought in 1890 by the Blake family, who owned a brewery in Trowbridge.
5: CALNE: Bowood Hotel and Spa and Golf Resort
£350 per night and this sits in the heart of stunning parkland, the Bowood is a luxury hotel with championship golf course and a spa with facilities, including a swimming pool, gym, rock sauna, crystal steam room and aromatherapy shower. It offers 2 individual restaurants - the Shelburne Restaurant and the Clubhouse Brasserie. The hotel also boasts a bar and 2 lounges, both with wood-burning fires.
Prices quoted were sourced online for the weekend of June 21/22.
