MORE than 30 people took the opportunity of joining guided nature walks around the newly acquired Stonebridge Meadows nature reserve in Marlborough, led by wildlife author Peter Marren.
He spoke about the ecology of the water meadow while Action for the River Kennet volunteer Harry Forbes spoke about the bumblebees that can be found in the field.
More than 30 people attended on saturday and enjoyed the walk around the meadow and along the boardwalk that ARK has installed at the side of the river so people can get a view of river life.
Anna Forbes, also an ARK volunteer, said: “Other interesting sightings on the day included a pair of whitethroat and a kestrel.”
Also on Saturday, an informal bat evening was held and attracted 12 people. By using bat detectors, the visitors could identify the different sounds of three species that could be seen swooping over the river.
