Police in Chippenham have teamed up with opticians to ensure schoolchildren can be clearly seen while walking to and from school.
For the third year running, Specsavers in Borough Parade has provided reflective wristbands for police to hand out as part of their Be Bright Be Seen campaign, coinciding with Road Safety Week.
PC Lee Maplesden, of the MOD police at Corsham gave out the wristbands at The Pound Arts Centre last week.
Michael Thompson, director at Specsavers in Chippenham, said: “Fewer children are walking to school these days, and one of the reasons is that parents don’t feel it’s safe enough.
“Hopefully the wrist-bands will reassure parents beyond road safety week to all the dark mornings and early nights.”
