Volunteers are needed to man a CCTV project in Malmesbury.
The town council and Malmesbury & Villages Community Partnership (M&VCAP) are working on the project aimed at improving safety in the town.
The existing CCTV will be moved from the town hall to the police station soon, and volunteers will be asked to monitor the system during periods requested by the police.
This will mainly be on Friday and Saturday nights but may extend to other times when the security of the town could be at risk.
Ray Sanderson said: “Those interested should be prepared to work in pairs over a four-hour period and agree to abide by a CCTV police code of conduct.
“In addition an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check on all volunteers will be needed. Those interested in helping Malmesbury become a much safer place to live in, should get in touch.
“This is just one of the projects in which M&VCAP are involved and they are looking to employ a project officer for about six hours a week to help organise their activities.”
Anyone interested in volunteering as a CCTV operator should call (01666) 822143 or email jeff.penfold@ malmesbury.gov.uk for an application form.
