More than 40 firefighters are currently dealing with a recycling centre blaze in Devizes.
The fire service has advised residents near Monument Hill to keep their windows closed due to the large amount of smoke.
A large steel and concrete-sided shed containing baled cardboard is well alight.
The emergency service first responded to 999 calls at 3.20pm on Thursday.
As of 5pm crews are on scene from various fire stations including Devizes, Trowbridge, Pewsey, Gillingham, Chippenham, Marlborough, Swindon, and Amesbury, along with a water carrier from Wilton.
A second water carrier and a high-volume pump are also en route.
Altogether, there are 45 firefighters trying to extinguish the fire.
A DWFRS spokesperson said: "The focus is on preventing fire spread and bringing the incident under control. There is thick smoke rising from the site, so local residents are advised to keep their doors and windows closed as a precaution."
