A High Street pub in Wiltshire that shut nearly two months ago will remain closed as the search for new landlords continues.
On September 1, management at The Smoking Dog, in the centre of Malmesbury, announced the pub had closed until further notice due to “unforeseen circumstances.”
While they hoped this situation was “short term”, owners Butcombe Brewery have confirmed they are now searching for new tenants, during which time the venue will remain shut.
Those interested in running the pub were urged to contact Butcombe via their website.
Dominic Rowley, tenanted operations manager for Liberation Group & Butcombe Brewery, said: “The Smoking Dog is temporarily closed while we look for a new tenant partner.
“This is an exciting opportunity for someone to work with us to bring this great pub in the heart of Malmesbury back to life, with support and guidance from Butcombe – a multi award-winning, established and well-respected name in the pub industry.
“We welcome enquiries from those looking for a new challenge.”
In a listing on property website Rightmove, the pub is described as being in a “prime location” and boasting “lots of character.”
The minimum start-up capital required to take over the venue is £15,000.
