A pedestrian has died after being struck by a car on a major road into a Wiltshire town.
The pensioner was rushed to Great Western Hospital in Swindon with serious injuries after police and paramedics attended the scene.
Despite treatment from emergency services, she died during the night.
Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Wiltshire Police closed the road for over an hour during the incident.
Officers are continuing to investigate the crash and have urged any witnesses to come forward.
A spokesperson for the force said: “A woman has sadly died following a collision in Malmesbury yesterday morning.
“Any witnesses to the collision or anyone who may have dash cam is asked to contact the serious collision investigation team on 01225 694597 quoting log number 76 of Tuesday’s date.
“Alternatively, they can contact the team directly at SCIT@wiltshire.police.uk”
